The date on the front of the house is wrong, the interior is littered with inconsistencies, with lies, the fireplaces, the cleanliness, the spaces, and many are historically questionable. What is this space? Very beautiful. It plays on our need to fantasise, to see what we want to believe, what we have learnt from film, from the romanticism of the Tudor times, of four poster beds, of real food cooking in the quaint kitchen, of the smell of the real fire in the hearth. Of drinking good wine, eating real food, of conversation of passionate relationships and sex - It sets the stage.

Unfortunately this is not the reality, it wasn't then and it isn't now. The reality of the time is somewhat more scary, arranged marriages, cramped living, the smell of pigs, of sewage...life for women was especially frightening
